For this post, we are going to discuss our choices for best vacation spots for you wine lovers. To some of you, many of these places may be familiar manufacturing points on your wine bottles.
Napa Valley, California
Located in the beautiful golden state, this is a place you have to visit at least once. As the majority of our readers are based in the U.S., this can be an excellent vacation spot without having to spend a fortune flying across the Atlantic ocean. It is located just a little north of San Francisco and is within a short distance of the beach. Perfect choice if you are looking for wine and a view.
Constantia Valley, South Africa
Near a beautiful coastal city on the African continent, this is one of the most underrated traveling spots for wine enthusiasts. The scenery and tasting there are incredible. Oh, and we forgot to mention, it is only within half an hour of Cape Town. Within minutes, you can be visiting the bright blue waters of coastal South Africa, while enjoying some of the highest quality of wine known to humankind. This city has a rich history dating back to its involvement with the Dutch East India company. Primarily know as the biggest company–adjusting for inflation of course–to have ever existed. We think this place doesn’t get enough recognition as a great place to enjoy your break, even without considering the wine selection. Seriously, its that good.
While it is a European city, Porto has a unique vibe that is not explainable. The scenery is to die for, and the whole place has a deep wine culture. They even have museums that give you a tour and tasting of different wines. If you are interested in a spot with an amazing history, great wine, and fantastic people, then Porto is the place for you. Note: Be careful, you may want to throw away all your money and visit every year (:
Jerez de la Frontera, Spain
Like many of the previous spots, it is located near a big city. Seville, a place on top of the River of Guadalquivir. While they are both excellent places that have great wine tastings, the best part involves something else. What is it you may ask? It’s the Food. As food and wine addicts, we have traveled the world tasting delicacies. But this place is in a world of its own. We couldn’t believe how rarely this spot is mentioned for its excellent delicacies. If you are into tapas and love flavorful food, then you must go here.
Sonoma Valley, California
For our second to last spot on the list, we head back to the states. In the same state as the beautiful Napa Valley, Sonoma is an often overlooked traveling destination. Another North American option that has to be taken advantage of. In fact, you could visit it at the same time you are visiting Napa. Sonoma has amazing events including parades, driving events, family festivals, and much more. This is all on top of the amazing wines that go for tasting, and the diverse set of food options. If you want something a little closer to home without sacrificing anything, then don’t miss out.
What about Tuscany!
As we all know, a wine destination list could not be complete without mentioning the famous Tuscany vineyards. We think this one speaks for itself. The surrounding areas, the landscape, the food, the wine, the people, the culture, and the weather, this place has everything to offer.
